The Unforgettable Sand Dunes Adventure in Paoay, Ilocos Norte

What a lovely vacation it is when there is an adventure with it! When travelling, never leave the place without trying their famous delicacies, tourist spots and of course, adventure.

Thus, when me and my friends visited Ilocandia, we never skipped the popular Sand Dunes Adventure.

There are two areas where we can do this. First is in La Paz and second is in Paoay. Both can be found in Ilocos Norte. And we have it in Paoay.

And the best time to experience is when it is not raining and best shot is either on a sunrise or a sunset. Why? Because aside from the fun, it is very much magical and romantic! 😃 Perfect for sunrise and sunset lovers like me and the photographers who want to capture moments like this.

Going back… There are 3 activities that you can do namely; 4×4 ride, sandboarding and ATV ride. As for us, we didn\’t try the ATV. On the other hand, 4×4 ride and sandboarding come together.

Before you can start, you must first pay and sign the waiver. The 4×4 ride and sandboarding cost Php 2,500.00 per vehicle maximum of 5 passengers.

After these, you will then be guided to the vehicle that you will be riding. Please note that you do not have any helmet or anything to tie on your body. It is your own effort to hold tightly so that you won\’t fall. You can bring camera but make sure that you can hold it properly. If you do not want to risk this, you may bring it but avoid using it while you are moving. Remember, a 4×4 ride comes with a twist. The driver will intentionally take a trail where you can experience going up and down on a steep hill. And to make it more fun, always choose to ride at the back of the vehicle not in the passenger seat (no challenge if you are in the front seat.. Hehe). 😃

After a couple of minutes, you will stop in an area where you can do the sandboarding. A trainer will guide you on how to do it. The board is provided by them. It is unlimited but make sure that if you are going during sunset, do not spend too much time sandboarding so that you can still have a photo op with the beautiful sunset.

When all of us was satisfied and got tired in going up, we went back to the vehicle and continue with our journey.

We then stopped by the beach area where sunset can be viewed at its best. We spent a few minutes taking pictures.

Finally, after resuming with our 4×4 ride journey, our last stopover is the location of the famous movie HIMALA starred the Superstar, Nora Aunor.

Then we went back to the registration area. And that ends the more or less an hour of fun and unforgettable Sand Dunes experience. You should try it too! 😅👌👏
